Memorial Weekend

We are currently in the middle of a long holiday weekend and are LOVING IT. We still have one whole day to go! My mom was able to come out for a couple days this past week and we had such a good time. Not only was she more than happy to stay home with Reilly so I could run errands and work, but she also deep cleaned my kitchen! What a treat! To top it all off she took us out to dinner to celebrate both Chris and my birthdays. We are very lucky to have such a great situation with the plane travel because Reilly really enjoys all the attention.
Part of our lovely day today was sitting outside reading the newspaper and enjoying the weather.
And obviously if we are reading the paper Reilly must get a paper hat.
We have definitely found that the best toys are really not toys at all. Here she is enjoying a piece of plastic wrap. Pill bottles filled with beans are also in her top three. We are happy she is so easy to please. When playing with toys is not on the agenda, she loves to walk around the house hanging on to my fingers or crawl around by herself and put whatever she can get her hands on into her mouth. She likes to play a little game where she sees what she can sneak in her mouth and then crawl away from me as fast as she can to give her time to swallow. I am still faster than her though and I know that if she is crawling especially fast I should investigate. I have also learned that if I can't hear her playing or babbling to herself that it is a very bad sign and I need to find her immediately. So far the worst things I have found her doing is unrolling all the toilet paper and having a fine time playing with toilet water. Neither ideal, but I sure it could be worse!
She is still eating a wonderful variety of foods and a LOT of it. We can't hardly cut it up fast enough for her because she just shovels it into her mouth. Right now a big favorite is watermelon and she will finish all of it before moving on to other things. I am excited for the summer produce to get cheap so we can try new things! We actually have a little potted garden and hope for a nice yield ourselves. We are not gardeners, but we like the idea of it and thought we would give it a try. If all goes well we should have a summer full of strawberries, oregano, basil and tomatoes. Hopefully next summer we will have a much greater variety. If anyone has great tips or book suggestions I am sure we could use the help.
Hope the post has found you all well. Thanks for reading!

Family Visit

We've had a great past couple of days because all my sisters and brother-in-law came out for a visit! We enjoyed having them here so much and it was wonderful for them to reconnect with Reilly. She has changed a lot since they've seen her last! Fours months makes a big difference. Luckily we already have a trip planned for June to see my family again, so it won't such a long time in between.
Uncle Josh took Reilly for a walk while all the girls...
got PEDICURES! It was a real treat and very relaxing.

The only other thing I can think of right now that effects our daily lives is that we are having clothes battles nearly everyday. Just recently she does not want to be changed or fussed with in any way. She would just rather be playing! We are finding some tricks to get the job done, but it always more convenient when there are two people around to work together against one baby. She is strong-willed when there are toys to be played with. Can't blame the kid.

The Happenings

All is well here and we have been very busy. I am not quite sure about it being MAY in a week, but I'm coming to grips with it. We think that Reilly is working on her third tooth now and her balance is good that it shouldn't be long before she starts trying to walk! That will be quite the milestone.
We had a little scare with my milk supply because I was sick with a stomach bug a couple of weeks ago and I couldn't keep any water down. On top of that I got food poisoning a day later ( I think. Not too sure. The only thing I know is that it was terrible.) My supply was very low for about 4 days, and then I decided to stop messing around! I went out to get brewer's yeast as well as a special hot tea that is supposed to help with supply. With the brewer's yeast I added a nice amount to healthy oatmeal cookies and ate probably about 6 a day. It was great having a reason to eat cookies all day! If you would like the recipe, click HERE. I think both of the supplements helped and now my milk is back to normal (PTL).

Reilly and I hosted a play date as well. All of these babies were born to the friends we made during our labor preparation class. It is fun for them to be a the age now where they can actually play together (and steal each other's toys). We actually watched the little girl right next to Reilly a couple of days later and it was very interesting seeing them interact for the evening. Luckily Eve was very laid back, and when Reilly would steal her toy she would be content with a different one. Reilly never takes interest in some of those toys, but as soon as Eve had it, it was her most favorite toy of all time. Hopefully sharing will come later!
Please note the food everywhere, including her hair. Lately she has been enjoying squash, couscous, tofu, and melons. She also can eat larger pieces of food now, and that is a nice change from having to puree everything!
Another dinner experience.

And lastly, I enjoy hanging our diapers out to dry! We were gifted a whole set of brand new diapers from Reilly's Great Grandma Sharane, and we are so grateful for them! Not only are they wonderful because they don't leak, but they are adorable.

Photo Shoot

We were offered by a friend to get some pictures taken of Reilly and we jumped at the chance. These beauties were all taken by Briony and you can contact her via Facebook (click HERE for her page). One of the best things about the experience was that Briony came to our house and brought tons of props. She was also wonderful with Reilly and was very patient with her baby shenanigans. We loved ALL of the pictures and are thrilled to share them with you.

Our Little Helper

It is a not so quiet Sunday morning. The neighbor kids are screaming and have been for about 10 minutes. Inside the house, it is peaceful. Reilly is snoozing and I've been watching old videos of her (and crying a little). I can't believe how big she is.
She is loving her new mobility and explores everything! This morning I realized it was past time to sweep the floor (I usually do it least once a week but apparently that is not going to cut it anymore). This picture is the best I could do to keep Reilly in one place for one minute... I don't know if it even lasted a whole minute, but it got the job done. She is also realizing there are things inside the cupboards, which is a shame. I greatly dislike those cupboard locks, but it is the better alternative to her drinking cleaning supplies!

What's out there?
Friday was opening day for the Rockies! We did our part.
Eight month picture with Raggedy Ann. The footie pajamas she is in are size 12 months!
Here is Reilly doing tricks with her dad.

3.30.11

By evidence of this video, I think Reilly might know her name! She is just the sweetest little baby and we love her so much.
